Join us for the policy-oriented conference Enhancing the learning experience: How can EHESO support student-centred higher education?, taking place in hybrid form on Thursday 5 November 2026. The event will also mark the official launch of the “Study in Europe Radar”, a key component of the European Student Hub, designed as an easy-to-use, evidence-based guidance tool for students interested in studying in Europe

Student-centred higher education is central to the ambition of creating inclusive, responsive, and future-oriented European higher education systems. As policies increasingly focus on equipping learners with the skills needed for the twin transition and on strengthening opportunities for cross-border learning, the student learning experience is becoming a key consideration in higher education policy and practice.

This one-day conference brings together student representatives, higher education institutions, policymakers, researchers, and other stakeholders to explore how European higher education policies can better support student learning, skills development, and meaningful opportunities to learn across institutions and countries.

The day features two thematic sessions:

  • Key skills and pedagogical innovation in higher education
    Explore how higher education can equip students with the specialised digital, sustainability, and other key skills needed for Europe’s twin transition, and examine how pedagogical innovation, student-centred approaches, challenge-based learning, and blended learning can transform the learning experience and strengthen the relevance of higher education to changing societal and labour market needs;
  • Joint programmes and degrees in European higher education
    Discuss the development of joint programmes and degrees as a means of strengthening the European dimension of higher education and expanding students’ opportunities for cross-border learning. The session will explore the opportunities and challenges arising from the European Universities Initiative and the European Degree Label, including the legal, regulatory, quality assurance, and funding barriers that continue to affect the implementation of joint provision across European higher education systems.

In addition to the sessions, in-person participants will take part in breakout discussions, where they dive deeper into the themes and share concrete perspectives, challenges, and recommendations. These sessions will feed directly into a reporting segment and a final panel discussion, ensuring a rich exchange of insights and practical ideas.

Join us to explore how student-centred higher education policies can strengthen the learning experience, support the development of future-ready skills, and create more meaningful opportunities for students to learn across Europe.
