EHESO Microdata for the academic year 2023/2024 available from 4 May
The EHESO Microdata (formerly known as ETER microdata) for the academic year 2023/2024 will be available from 4 May 2026.
Which countries are included?
The perimeter of EHESO Microdata covers all 27 European Union Member States, EEA-EFTA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland), and candidate countries (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, the Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Türkiye), as well as the United Kingdom, the Holy See and Andorra.
Coverage continues to span a broad set of European higher education systems and institutions, with data availability depending on national reporting cycles and ongoing data validation processes.
What is new?
The 2023/2024 release provides an updated dataset building on previous editions, ensuring continuity of core indicators and time series. As in previous years, the dataset integrates information from multiple sources, including official education statistics, EHESO data collections and selected external data sources. Work on further data enrichment and integration remains ongoing.
How will these data be used in EHESO?
The updated microdata are made available in the Microdata Access section of the EHESO website. They will continue to feed into the development and refinement of key EHESO tools and outputs, including the European Higher Education Sector Scoreboard and the new Benchmarking Tool for Higher Education Institutions, as data availability allows.
What are the sources for EHESO microdata?
EHESO microdata combine several data sources:
- Self-collected data, including institutional descriptors (such as name, acronym, foundation year and website) and geographical information (city, postcode, coordinates, NUTS region), as well as data from EHESO institutional and student surveys
- Official education statistics, including financial data (revenues and expenditures), personnel, students and graduates (with breakdowns by gender, citizenship, mobility, age group and role)
- External data sources, such as Erasmus+ mobility data, EU Framework Programme projects and quality assurance information, among others
