In Italy, non-formal and informal learning has been significantly driven by the efforts of private social actors, including cultural and youth associations, foundations, NGOs, and various training centres and volunteering networks.

The InformaGiovani Association promotes non-formal and informal learning opportunities. On its website, it offers a wide range of initiatives, including training courses for social and youth workers.

The Joint Association is a non-profit social promotion organisation based in Milan that provides international mobility and learning opportunities for young people within non-formal learning contexts. It targets young people aged 18 to 30, offering educational pathways for high school students and tailored initiatives for vulnerable groups, including disadvantaged youth.

CIAPE (Italian Permanent Learning Centre) is a non-profit cultural association committed to advancing lifelong learning through innovative and inclusive approaches. It operates at national and European levels, collaborating with over 300 organizations to enhance education and training opportunities.

Awareness-raising initiatives

Awareness-raising initiatives related to learning through non-formal and informal settings are discussed in the chapter on youth work (Cf. 10.7).
