Novelization of the Youth Act (Zákon o podpore práce s mládežou)

The ongoing reform of the Youth Act aims to modernize the legal framework for youth work and participation in Slovakia. The key objectives of the novelization include:

  • Clarifying the definition of youth
  • Clarifying the definition of youth work to include non-formal education, digital participation, and community-based learning.
  • Strengthening the professional status of youth workers, including clearer qualification standards, access to training, and recognition of youth work as a profession.
  • Aligning national youth policy with EU standards, particularly in the areas of youth dialogue, inclusion, and cross-sectoral cooperation.

This reform responds to long-standing calls from youth organizations and practitioners for a more coherent and supportive legal environment for youth participation.

Novelization of the School Administration Act (Zákon o štátnej správe a samospráve v školstve)

The reform of the School Administration Act is focused on increasing transparency, decentralization, and participatory governance in schools. These changes are intended to foster a more democratic school culture and to prepare young people for active citizenship by involving them directly in decision-making processes from an early age.
