Responsibility for youth policy responsibilities is distributed across several government departments and agencies. However, because the focus of youth policy is on youth work and youth services, primary responsibility resides with the Department of Education.
The role of youth work is to help deliver a range of strategic outcomes within other youth policies, such as helping young people who face barriers to participation in employment, volunteering and training opportunities. Youth work within education is aligned with wider education priorities.
