Youth policies for Scotland do not specifically refer to global issues such as climate change, green production and consumption, human rights, international development and the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals. Third Sector (voluntary) organisations, rather than government, tend to be involved in the provision of programmes and activities.
Learning for Sustainability is embedded within the General Teaching Council for Scotland’s Professional Standards. This supports teachers to embrace and promote the principles and practices of sustainability in all aspects of their teaching. There are many resources on offer to teachers and youth workers for continuous learning and development related to the promotion of global issues among young people.
