A roadmap towards the European Student Hub 

Once fully developed, the European Student Hub (previous working title was "European Student Observatory") will be a tool to inform students about the comparative diversity of university profiles and study programmes across Europe. At the current stage, a feasibility analysis is being conducted, and a roadmap developed in cooperation with stakeholders to provide a conceptual and technical plan for implementing the European Student Hub in 2026.

It is expected that the European Student Hub will include at least the following information:

  • Benchmarking tool for students for selecting the best places for studying, in synergy with other platforms like the “Study in Europe” portal.
  • Analysis of data on students and graduates from EHESO statistical institutional data, institutional and student surveys, EUROGRADUATE, EUROSTUDENT and other sources.
  • A collection of tools and information, which could help students pick the best place to study both from an academic and personal life perspective.

The following important milestones will have to be achieved to create the European Student Hub:

  • A roadmap for the European Student Hub was developed in 2025 and discussed with stakeholders at a policy workshop. The roadmap defines the general concept of the European Student Hub, the content, presentation and visualisation of its tools, detailed steps and timeline to achieve full implementation.
  • Completion of the first EHESO students’ survey in 2025. The data of this survey will act as one of the key analytical building blocks of the European Student Hub.
  • Full implementation of the European Student Hub will take place in 2026-2027. A transitional version of the Benchmarking Tool for students is expected to be developed in 2025 and will be made accessible on this page in Spring 2026.

Further information on future developments were discussed at the EHESO policy workshop “The European Student Observatory: A One-Stop-Shop for Students” (now the European Student Hub),which took place online on 29 September 2025.
