Intercontinental youth work cooperation

Exchanges between young people and youth organizations are mainly carried out through the Erasmus+ program (2021–2027), which serves as the main European tool for cooperation in the fields of education, training, youth, and sport.

In the Youth sector, the program supports:

  • Youth Exchanges

  • Youth Participation Activities

  • Cooperations of Youth Organizations

  • Transnational cooperations and exchange of good practices

Through these activities, the program promotes cross-border cooperation and the participation of young people in European and international networks, including collaboration with third countries outside the European Union.

In Greece, the Youth sector of Erasmus+ is managed by the Youth and Lifelong Learning Foundation.

Development cooperation activities

Greece participates in international development cooperation activities through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and related international cooperation structures. However, there are no standalone, specially designed national programs exclusively aimed at encouraging youth participation in development cooperation activities.

Youth participation in such activities mainly takes place:

  • Through European mobility programs

  • Through civil society organizations

Through volunteer and international cooperation initiatives.
