9. Youth and the World

Last update: 6 March 2026

The protection and promotion of democracy, Human Rights and individual freedom constitute the fundamental principles of the Greek Constitution and are an integral part of legal order. Greece considers that the respect of Human Rights, the promotion of democracy and the rule of law are inextricably linked with peace, justice, security, stability and sustainable socio-economic development.

Investment in Youth constitutes a strategic priority, as it is linked to the cultivation of educational, social, and cultural values without exclusion and contributes to shaping active citizens with democratic awareness, critical thinking, and a sense of social responsibility. Particular emphasis is placed on empowering young people so that they can respond to contemporary global challenges, such as climate change, digital transformation, social cohesion, and sustainable development.

In recent years, a variety of initiatives, actions, and awareness-raising campaigns have been implemented in Greece, targeting young people and aiming to promote the values of global responsibility, active participation, and intercultural dialogue.
