Forthcoming Policy Developments

The implementation of the Strategic Plan for Vocational Education, Training, Lifelong Learning and Youth 2022-2024 has served as a key reference framework for strengthening policies concerning youth and work with/for young people in Greece. The continuation of the plan’s objectives, combined with the operation of interministerial coordination mechanisms for youth matters, is expected to contribute to the development of more coherent policies in the field of Youth Work, with an emphasis on non-formal learning, youth participation, and alignment with European youth strategies. 

Ongoing Debates

• Implementation of the Bonn Process in Greece, within the framework of the European Youth Work agenda and the enhancement of Youth Work quality.

• Development of studies and proposals for the institutional recognition of Youth Work and Youth Workers within the national youth policy framework.

• Design of a unified, operational, and certified training programme targeting individuals who are already active or wish to become active in the delivery of social and educational initiatives for youth.

• Assessment of the ongoing training needs of Youth Workers, both at the institutional level and in day-to-day intervention and youth support practices.

• Strengthening of collaborations and the exchange of good practices with Council of Europe member states and European networks operating in the youth sector.
