Forthcoming policy developments

At present, there is no formally adopted national reform or standalone strategy specifically dedicated to youth participation in political and civil society processes in Greece that is pending approval or implementation. However, youth participation continues to feature indirectly within broader policy discussions related to youth policy, digital governance, education and democratic renewal.

In recent years, policy discussions have increasingly referred to the need to strengthen participatory mechanisms for young people, particularly through digital tools, consultation processes and civic education measures. These discussions are mainly embedded within wider governmental agendas concerning public administration modernisation, digital transformation and alignment with European youth policy priorities, rather than articulated through a single, coherent youth participation reform.

Where policy initiatives are under discussion, they tend to focus on:

  • improving digital consultation procedures and public access to online participation platforms;

  • reinforcing civic and citizenship education within formal education;

  • enhancing the visibility and accessibility of participatory opportunities for young people at national and local levels.

No official timeframe has been announced for the adoption of a comprehensive reform or strategy explicitly targeting youth participation as a distinct policy field.
