Forthcoming policy developments

The only upcoming policy development related to the issues covered by the chapter 'Youth & the world' is the development of the 2nd National Youth Strategy 2030 which is anticipated to be finalised and published in 2026.

Ongoing debates 

In order to increase the awareness around SDGs within the Cypriot society, involvement and commitment of all stakeholders, , an online platform has been launched by the Directorate General Growth of the Ministry of Finance. 

Moreover, in 2025, the Bicommunal Technical Committee for Youthwas created in order to strengthen cooperation and dialogue between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot young people. It consists of 32 members - 16 from each community - and operates under the support of the United Nations to promote engagement, mutual understanding, and youth-focused initiatives across the island. The committee aims to empower young people to contribute to peacebuilding and address shared challenges through collaborative activities.
