Forthcoming policy development

In 2017 the process of national curricular documents revision and updates was started. Between 2022 - 2024 new national curricula framework should be created, after that piloted, accompanied by "model documents and activities" for schools and in the period 2024 - 2026 it should be implemented in all schools.

Within the revision process, lots of emphasis are put on the use of ICT and modern technologies and that is the only field that was reformed and put in pilot testing and comprehensively put in force by the so-called "small revision" in January 2021. The fields of culture and cultural competencies, however, were diminished within the "small" revisited curricula 2021 and how it will be worked out is not known yet. Wider support of cultural creative education and use of new technologies for cultural expressions are expected.

The realization of the common memorandum on cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports is expected to be further exploited and discussed in order to bring practical common initiatives.

Ongoing debates

The implementation of the new State Cultural Policy 2021 - 2025 is in a play of which one of the priority goals is also to transform and reform current support and execution of culture, cultural and creative industries and also new ways of educating about and for culture within the formal education.
