The current government has stated that it will place a particular emphaisis on people's access to art and culture, regardless of who they are and where they live.

The Ministry of Culture and Equality has started work on a strategy for volunteering within the cultural field,  with a particular emphasis on local and regional culture. This work is connected to a review of regional cultural funds to stimulate increased art and cultural activities at the local level. The aim is to strengthen the interaction between professional and voluntary cultural activities, in addition to strengthening the voluntary field at the local and regional level.

In 2023, the Ministry of Culture and Equality also announced an upcoming action plan on equal opportunities to participate in culture, sports and outdoor activities. The plan is to be launced in 2024.
