Quality assurance in youth volunteering, particularly in projects managed by IPDJ, is assessed based on several requirements. These include promoting entities’ capacity to coordinate volunteering work and comply with legal obligations, the designing of volunteering tasks to facilitate skills acquisition, as per Ordinance no. 336/2017 related to the Youth Pass, and the evaluation of applications by competent entities in the project's intervention area. Compliance with project plans is monitored through random in-person visits by IPDJ technicians to about 20% of the projects. The achievement of goals is evaluated using results indicators.
At the end of the projects, entities must submit a report, including an evaluation questionnaire, to be eligible for future applications. Participating volunteers are also invited to complete an evaluation questionnaire when issuing their participation certificate and the Youth Pass. This feedback helps IPDJ assess public satisfaction and verify the quality of its work.
Annually, IPDJ promotes regional contests to evaluate good practices, with all entities promoting projects under its Volunteering Programmes eligible to participate. Six regional awards are given based on the criteria set out in the Regulation, consisting of a quality seal (to be displayed visibly at the entity's headquarters and used in its dissemination materials) and monetary prizes.
