Organisations that receive funding through national, regional or municipal grant schemes have to report to the relevant ministry or underlying agency/civil society organisation administering the scheme. This may include annual progress reports and a final report with accounting figures, information on activities, and the outcomes of activities.

The Norwegian Agency for Public and Financial Management (DFØ) has developed a website called tilskudd.no where voluntary organizations can find a comprehensive overview of government grant schemes as well as how funds have been allocated. The site works as a reach engine so that organisation can find grants suited for their purpose. The website shows how government grants to voluntary organizations are advertised and awarded to recipients from all ministries and grant managers. The service thus provides insight and the opportunity to compare and analyse data on grants. The overview of allocations and recipients also provides a basis for follow-up and control, among other things to avoid double funding and to ensure that the funds are allocated in accordance with the regulations on public support.
