1. Youth Policy Governance

Last update: 28 November 2023

In accordance with the Youth Law, youth policy in Latvia is a collection of deliberate actions that span all domains of state policy. These actions are intended to stimulate the holistic and valuable growth of young people, enhance their engagement in society, and improve their quality of life. Youth policy is a cross-disciplinary strategy implemented by various state and local government institutions, youth organizations, and other individuals or legal entities, within their respective areas of competence. Young people themselves are also involved in formulating and executing youth policy.

The planning process for youth policy involves an evaluation of the challenges facing young people and the factors hindering their activities. Consequently, this leads to the determination of specific objectives and tasks, followed by the execution of measures designed to counteract these impediments. The ultimate aim is to create an environment conducive to the personal development of young people and encourage their participation in the social, political, economic, and cultural life of their communities.
