3. Employment & Entrepreneurship

Last update: 28 March 2024

In Cyprus, the main governmental authority responsible for employment, including youth, is the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance.  “Employment and entrepreneurship” is also one of the eight pillars of the National Youth Strategy (2017-2022), coordinated by the Youth Board of Cyprus (Οργανισμός Νεολαίας Κύπρου). It is worth noting that the National Youth Strategy is poised for an update, with the imminent release of its second version covering the period till 2030.

As a result of the economic crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic, youth unemployment remains one of the main challenges faced by Cyprus. However, it is generally recognised that several measures tackling youth unemployment had a positive impact during the recent years.
