Green volunteering
 

Green volunteering is mainly advanced by NGOs and their programs. Youth volunteering in general has been in promoted in the past two decades by NGO ADP ZID. This NGO implemented for years national clean up actions as a part of a global civic clean up initiative Let’s do it marking the World cleanup day. Currently, this NGO implements projects aiming at green innovation with its partners in the Western Balkans. There have been numerous green volunteering initiatives which were initiated as a response to wildfires and deforestation. In the past decade, green production and consumption have been promoted through social entrepreneurship programs such as Social Impact Award (SIA) and Regional Incubator for Social Entrepreneurship (RISE). Climathon Podgorica, part of the global movement of European Institute for Innovation and Technology, is a hackathon taking place on annual basis since 2020, looking for digital solutions to climate change and environmental protection.
