With the recent reorganization of state institutions, the Ministry of Culture has now been transformed into the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The Ministry adopted a Strategic Plan for 2025–2027, which sets its priorities, programmes and funding directions for cultural development in the country. 

Previously, cultural policy was guided by the National Strategy for Development of Culture 2018–2022, which focused on ensuring equality, supporting artistic freedom, protecting cultural diversity and including marginalized groups and persons with disabilities in cultural life.

A new National Strategy for Development of Culture 2023–2027 with an accompanying Action Plan was drafted, but it has not yet been officially adopted.
