7. Health and Well-Being

Last update: 31 March 2026

The health and well-being of young people in Bulgaria is recognised as a key priority of national youth policy, given its strong impact on educational attainment, labour market participation and social inclusion. Public measures focus on promoting healthy lifestyles, improving access to preventive health services and addressing emerging challenges such as mental health issues, risk behaviours and substance use.

In recent years, increasing attention has been paid to the prevention of stress, anxiety and social isolation among young people, as well as to encouraging physical activity, balanced nutrition and sexual and reproductive health awareness. National programmes and cross-sectoral policies involving the health, education and youth sectors aim to strengthen resilience, support personal development and ensure equal access to health-related information and services for all young people, including those from vulnerable groups.
