Policy Framework

The Youth Act sets out that upon young volunteers’ request, the organizer of the volunteering initiative issues a document certifying the volunteer’s participation.

Transferability and recognition of skills and competences acquired through national and cross-border volunteering are not legally regulated.

Existing arrangements

There is no official mechanism for recognition of skills obtained through volunteering.

Nevertheless, Bulgarian young people participated in Erasmus+ projects can be issued a Youthpass certificate, which serves as recognition of non-formal learning within the European Union.
