4. Social Inclusion
The new national strategy introduces a new model of "active policies" of social protection, which are oriented in particular to preventing and dealing with the consequences created by the phenomena of unemployment, poverty, and exclusion in Greek society and which are expected to be intensified by the effects of the pandemic of the COVID-19 coronavirus in the economy, in combination with adverse demographic developments and mainly the weakening of the protective role of the family and informal care networks. The new National Strategy promotes equal participation in social and economic life by imposing the design of policies that encourage and promote the socialisation of the most vulnerable individuals, enhancing opportunities to develop work skills and cultivate social contacts and interpersonal relationships.
